About The Event

Come and train with us to get the "HLTAID005 - Provide First Aid in Remote Situations" certification. 

We need a minimum of 5 participants to maintain this training session that will be dlivered by a certified trainer with bush exprience, in a bush setting to be determined (council owned dam or similar). 

Bonjour Toowoomba is not the training organisation but the organiser of the session and some of our staff will be trained during this session. 

"This course provides the knowledge and skills to perform first aid in remote situations where medical attention, help or assistance is delayed and the First Aider may be required to attend to an injured and/or ill person for a longer time period due to geographical barriers to evacuation such as isolated or outback location, rough terrain or inclement weather. It will give students the skills and knowledge required to provide First Aid response; life support; management of person(s), the incident and other First Aiders in remote situations until handed over to medical or other assistance."

The particular topics covered by the course include: Legal and other issues Debriefing/welfare Basic Life Support - DRSABCD CPR and AED Allergic reaction/ Anaphylaxis Asthma Airway management/Choking Shock management Cardiac emergencies Cold and crush injuries Bleeding/ haemorrhage and basic wound care Burns and scalds Abdominal injuries Dehydration & extremes of heat and cold Convulsions/Seizures Musculoskeletal injuries Poisons & Toxic substance Bites and stings Evacuation methods 

Do I need to have completed previous training?

There are no prerequisites for this unit.

How do I keep my qualifications current?

Current industry standards state this course must be updated every 3 years with the CPR component being updated every 12 months.


Students will be assessed through the demonstration of practical skills, participation in role plays, analysis of case studies and a written quiz.


On successful completion of this course, students will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTAID005 Provide First Aid in Remote Situation

Cost per participant: $390 inc. GST

This course is supplied by National First Aid Training Institute (NFTI) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 40704) and delivered by Top of the Range Training.
